We advise and defend you in criminal law matters. Our focus is on commercial criminal law, press criminal law, confidentiality law, defamation offences, whistleblowing, general criminal law and political criminal defence.
Anyone who runs a company, is employed or applies for state benefits can quickly find themselves facing allegations of economic offences such as fraud, subsidy fraud, embezzlement or delayed insolvency. In such cases, professional and early defence is essential. We have a wealth of experience in commercial criminal law and have achieved a very high success rate in numerous proceedings, resulting in the public prosecutor's office dropping investigations.
Advising members of the press and defending them against criminal charges is another focus of our work. Investigative journalists in particular regularly face criminal law issues: What can be secretly recorded and filmed? Is it permissible to obtain and exchange certain information at all?
We have comprehensive practical and theoretical expertise in the field of criminal law relating to the protection of secrets (state secrets, treason, breach of official secrets, trade secrets law) and whistleblowing. We provide in-depth advice to employees in companies and public authorities on which secrets are protected during and after the end of their employment and which information they are allowed to pass on to third parties or make public. If you are accused of violating a secret, consult us at an early stage so that we can defend you in the best possible way.
In general criminal law, we regularly defend clients as solicitors of choice and court-appointed solicitors. The charges are varied: theft, robbery, coercion, bodily harm, homicide, document forgery, to name a few.
Political criminal defence against criminal charges is another focus of our work. This includes defending activists who legitimately invoke fundamental rights and constitutional values. Defending against allegations of violating state secrets also regularly includes a political aspect. We also advise on incidents of police violence and when it comes to defending minorities against state repression.
After a final conviction, the only recourse left is often a constitutional or human rights complaint. We assess the chances of success and, if necessary, represent you before the Federal Constitutional Court or the European Court of Human Rights.
