Solicitor Joschka Selinger advises at KM8 primarily on association and non-profit law as well as the law of assembly.
Joschka Selinger studied law, Islamic studies and political science in Berlin, Damascus and Cairo. He completed his legal clerkship in Berlin, including placements at the Federal Foreign Office and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Cairo. Before joining the firm, Joschka Selinger worked as a solicitor in litigation, as a research associate at a climate protection think tank, and as legal counsel to the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives.
Alongside his work as a solicitor, Joschka Selinger works at the Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte e.V. (Society for Civil Rights). There he coordinates strategic litigation to protect civil society's scope for action and heads the "Democracy and Fundamental Rights" division. He regularly publishes (specialist) articles and speaks publicly on the connections between fundamental rights, democracy and the rule of law. He has also served as an expert witness in the Bundestag and the Saxon State Parliament.
Joschka Selinger is a member of the Republican Lawyers' Association (Republikanischer Anwältinnen- und Anwälteverein, RAV) and a member of the advisory boards of the No SLAPP contact point and the Environmental Trust Fund (Umwelttreuhandfonds).
